The master Antonio Bernal was born in 1973 in the Sevillian town of Camas, known for being the land of different artists such as Curro Romero, Paco Camino, Sergio Ramos, Capi… He studied music at the Elementary and Superior Conservatory of Seville in 1991. He worked as a gardener for a while in the Expo 92 State Society, specialized in the field of botany. It was a few years later when he opened the workshop, where he began to practice what today is his profession: construction, reparation and sale of guitars. Nowadays he continues his professional training in Luthier’s work since he says: “in this profession you should never stop learning and growing in order to offer higher quality in the final arts of each guitar”. He has studied with great artisans and masters, repairing guitars of the most prestigious Luthiers of the world, and at the same time carrying out numerous studies on the finish of the harmonic cover. Years later he learned that it was necessary to make a certain number of changes in the usual elements of the guitar in order to improve its sound. With a fair knowledge of the woods and the personalized study of each customer it is possible to make special and unique guitars for each of them.

The main reason that pushed the master Antonio Bernal to dedicate himself to guitar making as a profession was his passion for music and botany, because when he studied it he was fascinated, as well as how rewarding it has been throughout his career to make a guitar and see it creating melodies in the hands of an artist.

The woods we use in the construction of our guitars are Spanish Cypress, Indian Rosewood, Amazon Rosewood, Canadian Red Cedar, German Spruce, Ebony, Honduran Royal Cedar and Maple.

In the flamenco guitar the most used woods are German Cypress and Fir for the performance of treble tones, which is the key of Flamenco. Indian Rosewood, Amazon Rosewood, German Spruce or Canadian Red Cedar are also used for Flamenco Concert Guitars. These woods reproduce more bass notes and they last longer in time. They are widely used by Flamenco Concert guitarists.

The classical guitars use Indian or Amazonian Rosewood with Canadian Cedar or German Spruce, so the construction is different. Compared to flamenco guitars, in concert guitars the bass tones and the duration of the note in time predominate much more. This type of wood is used for classic as well as Bossa-nova guitars.

Antonio Bernal has also been dedicated for many years to the construction of Jazz guitars using the highest quality woods, introducing new technologies in the construction of harmonic bars. These Jazz guitars, in the waist as well as in the lobes, are different since we need more harmonic tonic and a little more projection.
